# Sabr — Privacy Policy

Sabr ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Sabr mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

## 1. Information We Collect
### 1.1 Collected Automatically
- **Anonymous Identifier.** We create a random, anonymous user ID on first launch. No email, name, or personal information is required. This ID syncs your preferences and purchases across sessions.
- **Location.** If you grant permission, your device uses your location to calculate prayer times via a third-party API. We do not store your precise coordinates on our servers. Only your city and country are stored for analytics.
- **Analytics.** We collect anonymised usage events (screens viewed, features used) through Firebase Analytics. These are not linked to any personal identity. We do not use the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA).
### 1.2 Provided by You
- **Guidance Input (AI Feature).** If you use the Guidance feature, the text you provide is sent to **OpenAI** to generate personalised reflections. No personal data, location, or identifiers are included. You will be asked for consent before using this feature for the first time.
- **Purchases.** Transactions are processed entirely by Apple. We receive a purchase record (product ID, date, status) via RevenueCat to unlock premium features. We never see your payment method or billing details.
- **Journal Reflections.** Personal reflections you write are stored on your device only and are never transmitted.
### 1.3 What We Do NOT Collect
- No name, email, phone number, or personally identifiable information
- No IDFA, no cross-app tracking, no cross-site tracking
- No advertisements of any kind

## 3. Third-Party Services

If you use the Guidance feature, only the text you type is sent to OpenAI. We do not include your user ID, location, or any device data. You will be asked for consent before first use.

## 4. Data Storage & Security
- Server-side data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, protected by security rules that restrict access to the authenticated user only.
- On-device data (saved items, journal reflections, settings) is stored locally and never transmitted.
- All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.

## 5. Data Retention
- Your anonymous profile is retained as long as you use the App.
- Inactive anonymous accounts may be cleaned up automatically by Firebase.
- On-device data is deleted when you uninstall the App.
- You can delete all data at any time (see Section 6).

## 6. Data Deletion
You can delete all of your data at any time:
- **In-app:** Settings → Delete My Data. This permanently removes your server-side profile, preferences, and purchase records, clears local data, and resets the App.
- **By email:** Contact [email protected] and we will delete your data within 14 days.
Deleting your data does not cancel an active subscription — cancel separately via your Apple ID Account Settings.

## 7. Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We use anonymous authentication and collect no personally identifiable information.

## 8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you may:
- **Access** the data we hold about you.
- **Delete** your data via Settings → Delete My Data or by contacting us.
- **Opt out** of analytics via your device settings.
- **Withdraw AI consent** by not using the free-text Guidance feature, or by deleting your data.
Since we collect no personally identifiable information, most data cannot be linked to you as an individual.

## 3. Free & Premium Features
### 3.1 Free Features
Core religious content — including prayer times, Qur'an, Hadith, Du'a, stories, tesbih, spiritual guidance, and widgets — is available for free.
### 3.2 Sabr Pro (Premium)
Sabr Pro is an optional upgrade that unlocks visual themes, widget skins, and additional customisation. It is available as a monthly subscription, yearly subscription, or one-time lifetime purchase.
### 3.3 Subscription Terms
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions at any time through your Apple ID Account Settings.
- Any unused portion of a free trial, if offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Prices are in the currency of your App Store region and may vary. Price changes will not affect active subscription periods.
### 3.4 Restore Purchases
You can restore previous purchases at any time via Settings → Restore Purchases.

## 4. AI-Powered Guidance
The Guidance feature uses AI (powered by **OpenAI**) to generate personalised spiritual reflections based on your input. See our Privacy Policy for details on how data is handled.
### Consent
You will be asked for explicit consent before your text is sent to OpenAI for the first time. You may choose not to use this feature at any time.
### Disclaimer
AI-generated reflections are for spiritual encouragement only and should not be considered:
- Religious rulings (fatwa)
- Medical or psychological advice
- Professional counselling
Use your own judgement and consult qualified professionals when needed.

## 5. Religious Content
Islamic content in Sabr is curated from established scholarly sources for educational and spiritual purposes. It is not a substitute for scholarly Islamic guidance. We encourage users to consult qualified scholars for specific religious rulings.

## 6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or data.
- Misuse the AI guidance feature by submitting harmful or inappropriate content.
- Redistribute, resell, or sublicense any content from the App.
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's services or servers.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.
- We do not guarantee that prayer times are perfectly accurate for every location. Always verify important times independently.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
- Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for Sabr Pro in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $25 USD, whichever is greater.
